How to Play?

  1. The memory game can be played alone or with 2 or more players 
  2. Mix up the cards.
  3. Lay them in rows, face down.
  4. Choose two cards to turn over.
  5. If the two cards match, keep them. 
  6. If they don't match, turn them back over. 
  7. Try to remember what was on each card and where it was. 
  8. If you're playing with others, watch and remember during the other player's turns too.
  9. The game is over when all the cards have been matched. 
  10. How may pairs did you match? Play and again and try and try to match more. 

How to extend and enrich children's learning

  • choose a card, and then research using books and the internet - where does the animal or plant come from in Australia?
  • match the cards with figurines and photographs
  • use the cards as word cards for early writing 
  • use the cards as writing prompts for story telling
  • use the cards as 'story stones'
