YOUR GUIDE TO CREATING A VISION BOARD

(AND A FREE WORKSHEET!)

"Vision without action is merely a dream...vision with action can change the world"

Joel Barker

If you have heard or seen the term “vision board” and you have wondered whether this tool works for people,  the good news is does!

I’ve been creating vision boards for over a decade and this year I decided to share that experience with a group of amazing women just before New Years Eve. Some creative play, great conversation and tasty treats - a fabulous way to spend a morning.

But let me take a step back and share with you what a vision board is, for me, and why it has become an annual (sometimes more) ritual.

A vision board is effectively what the name implies - a visual board (usually a poster, or large sheet of paper) filled with imagery, symbols, colours and quotes that reflect what you wish to create in your coming year.

And for those wondering what I mean by the term “vision” - I describe it as the mental image that comes to mind when you think about what life might be like if you achieved all your desires. Once you have that mental picture in mind, it’s about finding images that collectively reflect the vision.

The process can be completed in a few hours, or done over multiple sessions if you wish to extend the creative process.

There is no size limitation - if you would like to create a massive collage of imagery to draw your focus every day, then I recommend A2 or even A1 (movie poster size). I generally work on A3, and I have also completed multiple A4 boards in the past, joining them at the longest edge to form a concertina book. This was a great option for keeping my vision board portable and I could easily add to it when inspiration hit me.

If crafting your vision is feeling a bit out of reach, I’ve included a link to my free worksheet that guides you through the process.

The worksheet includes reflection questions on the following:

  • What worked in 2018
  • What do you want to carry forward
  • What do you want to let go
  • Your word for 2019
  • What your perfect day looks like
  • What brings you joy or happiness
  • What you want to create more time and space for in your life
  • Themes for your vision board (based on a Feng-Shui grid) and more!

I also rounded up some samples for added vision board inspiration.

To download your copy, click this link <https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LjkurmjBozt0z6hr6UdNSmVyq1YXvW1z/view> to download your worksheet. Print it off, fill out the questions and dive into 2019 with more clarity.

Once you have created your vision board, make sure you put it in a place that you will see it as frequently as possible. Bedroom walls, the back of the toilet door, in your office - anywhere that will grab your attention and remind you that this is the world you are building for yourself.

Let's make 2019 our best year yet!
