Motherly Instincts: Sows are highly nurturing and protective mothers. They build nests before giving birth and exhibit maternal behaviors such as nursing, grooming, and defending their piglets from predators.

Large Litters: Female pigs are prolific breeders and can give birth to large litters of piglets. A single sow can have anywhere from 6 to 12 piglets in a litter, although larger litters are possible.

Gestation Period: The gestation period for sows is approximately 3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days, or around 114 days. During this time, the sow undergoes significant physical changes to prepare for giving birth.

Olfactory Abilities: Sows have an excellent sense of smell, which they use to locate food, detect danger, and communicate with other pigs. Their sense of smell is highly developed and plays a crucial role in their social interactions.
